Reinstalling or changing your operating system

Wipe and rebuild any instance in 3-6 minutes, free, as many times as you want.

From the client area

  1. Services → your server → Rebuild.
  2. Pick an image: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025, Windows 10/11 Pro, Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky, Fedora, or a custom ISO.
  3. Optionally paste an SSH public key (Linux) or set an initial password.
  4. Type the server hostname to confirm, then start. Takes 3-6 minutes.
This destroys everythingThe disk is wiped. Take a snapshot first if there is anything you want to keep — a snapshot restore afterwards is far cheaper than reconstructing a lost setup.

Billing when you switch OS family

Linux → Windows adds the licence fee ($1.75 per vCPU per month), prorated to the day and added to your next invoice. Windows → Linux removes it and credits the unused portion. There is never a rebuild fee.

Custom ISO

Upload an ISO up to 8 GB in Services → your server → ISO library, then boot from it via the VNC console. Useful for pfSense, TrueNAS, Proxmox, Windows evaluation editions or a distribution we do not stock.

Your IP does not change

Rebuilding keeps the same IPv4 and rDNS. DNS records and firewall allowlists elsewhere stay valid.
