# Multi-user Windows RDP: capacity and access licences

Plan Windows Remote Desktop Services licensing separately from server resources.

## Administrative access is not a multi-user licence

The built-in Windows Server administrative connections are for administration. Providing application desktops to multiple users is a different RDS deployment and requires the appropriate user or device access licences.

## Check the rights for every user and application

RDPForge plan capacity does not include RDS CALs automatically. Confirm the Windows image, RDS licensing and installed software rights with the relevant licence provider before purchase. ## Size and test the workload

Memory and CPU requirements vary with applications, data and concurrent activity. Choose the resources and test a representative workload instead of treating a suggested user count as guaranteed performance.
